Sharing and spreading joy can be so fulfilling and addicting. Let’s be honest, watching others smile or laugh is simply good for the soul.
It’s good for the heart.
That’s one of the many reasons I loved FSY: I got to spread joy and love all day, everyday.
In big ways.
And in small ways.
And it all stemmed from the heart.
My first FSY dance at Snow College was so fun.
The layout of Snow College is ideal for FSY, and dances are held in this epic courtyard outside.
If the sun has gone down a little and is not shining in your eyes, it is the perfect place to party! And because it is outside, the sky is constantly in view.
Oftentimes, it’s absolutely beautiful.
With pink strewn throughout the fluffy clouds and bright blue serving as the background, I imagine it resembles the glory of heaven.
Naturally, when I noticed the sky was beautiful, I wanted to share my love and admiration for it!
I boogied over to a group of my girls from that week and mentioned how beautiful the sky was.
A simple gesture.
One that came from the heart.
One that led to a miracle.
One of my girls reached out and sent this message to me. (This happened a long time ago, and it has taken me this long to actually write a blog post about it!) She said,
… when we went to the first dance, [I] was feeling very worthless, and I felt completely unseen.
You walked over to me and my group of buddies, and I got nervous because I already knew God was working through you, even if it was just to come stand by us.
You pointed at the sky and said “look at how beautiful that is!”
Without thinking about it too much, I said, “and it’s God’s creation!”
Then you included the grass, [saying] “the grass is God’s creation.”
Then you pointed STRAIGHT at me…
And from there on I don’t remember what you said, but Jesus told me, “You are my creation and you are beautiful.”
I almost started balling my eyes out right then and there, in-front of all of you, but luckily I think [someone] came over and changed the subject.”
I am so grateful she reached out because although I remember that experience, I didn’t realize that a miracle happened in that moment. I just remember being silly and wanting to share my joy.
What if we lived life like that everyday?
Wanting to share our joy so much that we do so, without overthinking if it’s silly or dumb or unnecessary.
I wish I knew the outcome of all the random and silly little things I do everyday.
I imagine knowing the consequences or the backstory would be very reinforcing and inspiring.
That being said, it makes me feel blessed for the times I do get to hear the rest of the story.
The times I get to know.
The times I get to see the miracle with a greater perspective.
I am sure being a loving Father in Heaven is not easy. I am sure it is painful at times, frustrating, and heartbreaking. But I have a feeling that creating miracles, showing His children that He loves them, one by one, is one of His favorite things. Perhaps His most important priority.
I am sure having children that are dedicated to being His hands is helpful and vital to Him.
I hope to always be one of those people.
Thomas S. Monson, in a DVD about his life released in 2008, titled On the Lord’s Errand, said, “The sweetest experience I know in life is to feel a prompting and act upon it and later find out that it was the fulfillment of someone’s prayer or someone’s need. And I always want the Lord to know that if He needs an errand run, Tom Monson will run that errand for Him.”
(Side note: I searched for this quote for over 10 minutes, and I finally found it! Yippee! To be fair, it was not in a talk or a popular devotional. It’s a miracle I found it at all! Ha!)
In striving to be His hands, my plan is to live life all from the heart. That is one way Heaven communicates with me, and I know that with my continual, honest, and sincere efforts, He will lead me and guide me to where I need to be, what I need to say, and what I need to do.
And I hope, that if the Lord needs an errand run, he can count on Kyra Marie to run that errand for Him.
He can count on me to “go and do.”
After all, I plan to trust in Him and live my life all from my heart.
Is there really any better way to live?
I challenge you to join me.
To go and do.
To follow Him.
To live like Him, with every action, and every effort…
coming all from the heart.
