It’s Always Something With You

Posted on November 2, 2026 by Kyra Marie

I’ll always treasure the memories I gained and the experiences I had at FSY.

I’ll always hold sacred the relationships I made with the youth. I still miss them. Everyday. Everyday. Everyday. I hope and pray for joyful reunions…someday.

Nevertheless, even though sometimes it hurts, I love reminiscing about FSY.

My last week of FSY in the Summer of 2023 was a good one, and I enjoyed it.

On Friday night, I was tasked with dance duty, and I was stationed between the buildings with the bathrooms and the dance.

When one of my favorite line dances came on, I started dancing from my position.

Sometime during the song, two girls walked by me and went inside the building where the bathrooms were.

I remember locking my gaze on them and following them with my eyes, even turning my head to watch them. I also remember wondering if I was drawn to them because they were going to try to sneak away.

But, no, they went into the building.

I couldn’t get my mind off of them, and I pondered why they had stood out to me.

Figuring that it must have been a prompting from Heaven, I began thinking about what I would say to them when they came back.

I decided I would tell them a story, but I wasn’t sure which one. Before they came out, I decided that I would make the decision in the moment.

Not soon after they went into the building, I saw them come out.

Immediately I walked over to them, and I stopped them.

I think I said something like, “I know this is weird, but can I share a story with you?”

They looked at me with confusion in their faces, but they agreed.

We walked over to the side, and I shared a story with them.

I still didn’t know which story to tell, but one soon came to mind, and I told them about a young man who had a testimony bigger than he had realized. (See here for the story. Scroll down to: “Moments and miracles like this one do not happen very often. In fact, I would say…”)

One of the two girls began crying. Softly and silently, tears began flowing down her cheeks.

She shared with me that although she was grateful to be at FSY and had learned a lot, she was having a hard time connecting with God and feeling His love.

I testified that I knew God was aware of her and wanted her to know of His love. That her testimony was bigger and stronger than she knew.

We talked for a minute more, and then the girls walked away.

Not long after, the dance was over, and we were lining up with our companies.

As I led my company away, I saw my co from two weeks prior, Jaden. I exclaimed that I had another cool story to tell him.

He laughed and shouted back, “It’s always something with you!”

I invite you to follow promptings too.

Not all of them will turn out how you hope they will—trust me, I’ve been part of my fair share of awkward encounters.

But following through is worth it. Often, miracles occur.

So act fearlessly. Trust in God. Follow promptings.

Even the weird ones.

Especially the weird ones.

And before you know it, you’ll have someone smile and tell you,

“It’s always something with you.”

Here is where it happened:

I sat down on this ledge but neither of them ended up sitting, so I stood back up, haha!

Why “Imperfectly Broken?”

I named this site “Imperfectlybroken” because I broke my arm in 2019. I had to have 6 surgeries on it, and it was a long and tedious process to get it fixed. Therefore, my arm was “broken.” Not only was my arm broken in 2019, but I’ve lived my life with a constant broken heart: depression. Depression ensures a broken heart and at times, a broken soul. I added the “imperfect” to establish that I am a human being; I am imperfect. I make mistakes. I am changing. I am becoming. In the end, it all comes together to become “ImperfectlyBroken.com”
